During this season of Easter we’re able to remember and celebrate all the things that God has done and is doing for us.
The first amazing thing that He did for us was sending us His son Jesus. This act of selflessness shows us the love that God truly has for humanity. The reason He came was so that he could be a sacrifice for us, so that our sins would be forgiven and we could be reunited with God.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
This scripture illustrates the point that Jesus being born is a gift from God, that separates us from sin and enables us to receive the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. He left the majesty of heaven to come to this earth as a gift and suffered for us.
His birth was so special because when He was born the King, Herod did not like the idea of there being another King. So King Herod issued a decree to kill every boy 2 years and under. It could only be the knowledge of the true royalty of Jesus that would make a grown man want to kill a baby.
I’m just so glad He came.
“All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel (which means “God with us”)” Matthew 1:22-23 (NKJV)
