Life now as I know it is constantly changing, after separating from my husband I’ve had to make a conscious effort to heal from the pain and heartbreak of that failed marriage. To be able to look at my current situation/problem and see the possibility, and see how God is gonna use this “failure” as a platform to demonstrate His glory.
The healing process isn’t quick or easy but it is a process I must go through in order to make sure that I am a whole and complete person, before I can even consider giving myself to another person. The holy spirit has made me understand that the broken feeling I’m feeling is a opportunity for God to fix me again with Him as my foundation.
So I was listening to a sermon by T.D. Jakes “7 tips for a single person”. I’ll outline the seven (techinally eight) tips and below you can listen to the sermon yourself.
- Have a deeper relationship with God
- Seek a whole life as a single person
- Set a guard on your heart
- Develop interests
- Avoid people who seek to control and silence your personality
- Respect marriage, don’t worship marriage
- Live and budget within your means
- Exercise your body, exercise your mind
After listening to this sermon I decided I would work on building a greater relationship with God. My first port of call was the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23); Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. So I decided to look at how I display each ‘fruit’ and challenge myself to do better.
This is a work in progress.
These fruits of the spirit can be implemented in our daily lives if we live by the spirit and keep in step with the spirit. Galatians 5:16 (NKJV)
